If you are going to have some skirting boards installed you first need to decide the material of the skirting boards that you want to have in your home. Skirtings come in various materials. You can be sure that no matter what your needs or tastes are there will be a material that works well for you and your lifestyle. The most popular type of skirting board is Wooden BaseBoards. There are lots of reasons for this choice, but the most common reason is the variety of choices there are when it comes to skirting boards made of wood.

Even though skirting boards are available in materials such as vinyl or even wood composites, most likely if you choose one of those materials you will find that your choices are limited. With Wooden Skirting you have all sorts of choices to make. Each choice is based on your style and design aesthetic. Take a look around at what is available to you and you may be surprised by what you find.

The first decision you need to make is on the type of profile you’d like to have for your skirting boards. There are many different skirting board profiles when you decide to go with wooden boards. You can choose from contemporary styles, modern styles and classic board profiles as well. If you were to choose vinyl or a composite wood-like material you would find that you wouldn’t have as many profile choices. For instance with vinyl you don’t have any profile choices at all, it’s just the vinyl.

Another choice you need to make is exactly what kind of wood you want your baseboards to be. There are so many different types of wood skirtings that you can buy, so you should look around and see what sort of wood accents are already in your home. Vanilla skirtings gives you a wide range of colours like oak, walnut and pine.

Beyond choosing the type of wood you want to use, you need to select the type of finish you want. If your purchase skirting that are a wood composite material or vinyl then you won’t need to worry about the type of finish, but when you have wood skirting boards you’ll need to give it some thought. You can use paint, wood stain or even a clear varnish. Again you need to look at what you already have in your home to see what sort of finish will look the best. Vanilla skirtings will offer a wide range of pre-finished stains and profiles. Be sure to contact us for choosing the correct skirting in the future.
